I am passionate about lots of things, but these two things are on the top of my list, “Helping people” and “Solo Travelling.” My challenge was, how to bring my two passions together, inspiring and helping people to travel solo become my mission. My website Traveling with Me Myself and I are to encourage and teach people to Travel Safe, Travel Smart and Travel Solo.
I come from a big family; I am the eldest, I have three beautiful sisters and one extraordinary brother, My mother, and father, both were primary school teachers. One thing they taught me at a very early age was, ” Knowledge is Power,” that stuck with me. As I grew older and wiser, one might argue this point, I started reading a lot and learning new things. I will take cooking classes, dance classes, learn a new language, etc., I wanted power. Not to be rich or famous but to help people and change lives.
I was a genius at everything, Maths, Science, Music, Dance, Debate, Sports, you name it ….. I Aced it, except spelling and grammar (when it came to spelling my brain places letters in the wrong places). This disability stopped me from getting out in the world, doing what I dreamed of doing. I was scared that people will laugh at me and make fun of my disability, so I just kept imagining …………………….
In 2013, I made a trip to England and Europe. I met this brilliant gentleman, he had speech disability not very obvious, after years of speech therapy, etc., but it did not stop him from living his dream. His work involved talking to tourist on a daily basis. Watching him do what he was so passionate about and so good at, inspired me. He did not care what people thought of his speech disability. He was my inspiration.
When I got back from my trip, I pulled out all my old diaries and started reading them. Yes, there were millions of spelling mistakes, but I did not care. I had been writing for over 25 years. But never shared anything with anyone because of my fear of not been good enough and been laughed
I am now brave enough to face my fears, and I am ready to live my dream, I am writing my experience and my stories to share with you, and hopefully, I can inspire you to get out of your comfort zone and travel solo.
Traveling has taught me so much, Travelling not only awakens all your senses but it also challenges your believes and your limitation, we all grow up with these restrictions that define us as a person and stops us from living our lives to the fullest.
Life is about our Souls finding its true purpose no matter what disabilities or limitation you might have, it is not enough to stop you from living your dream.
