Peniscola, Spain.
Spain is a beautiful country. One might say Peniscola is one of the jewels of its crown. I am having problems finding the perfect words to describe what my eyes are seeing right now.

Peniscola is “The City in the Sea”, Located on the Costa de Azaha. The whole city is built on a rock headline 67 meters above the deep blue mediterranean sea, joining to the mainland with a string of sand.

Walking up these narrow cobbled streets, I could feel the wind of salty air and hear big waves crashing along the edge of the cliff, creating a relaxing sound you could hear for miles… splash, woo … splash, woo. The magic of this moment was truly unbelievable.

There are about 510 homes nestle amongst these narrow streets. At the road level, you will find souvenir shops, cafes, restaurants etc and first and second floors are houses or apartments. Beautiful bright colors everywhere, old style windows with shutters, little pot plants resting against the walls of the buildings.

On the top of the hill sits The Castle of Peniscola, built in the 13th Century by Knights Templar over an Arab Fortress. Papa Luna (Pope Benedict XIII) lived in this castle for 6 years. I could just imagine living here, like a queen. Beautiful Castle on top of the hill or rock I should say, surrounded by enchanting crystal blue water. I had to pinch myself to wake up from my daydream..haha
