IS SOLO TRAVELING DANGEROUS?

I have spent the last two years empowering woman to Travel Solo to Self Discovery. My motto has been – Learn how to Travel Smart, Travel Safe and Travel Solo. Those readers who have been following me on my journey, first of all, I thank you from the bottom of my heart; secondly, I would like to ask you, what you have learned from my blogs, videos, and newsletters?

As I write this blog, my heart breaks with the news of Grace Millanes tragic death while solo traveling in New Zealand. As a solo traveler whose life mission is to teach women of all ages how to travel smart, travel safe and travel solo – I somehow feel I have let Grace and other female travelers down who have been either killed, raped or hurt while traveling. There is nothing I can do to bring Grace Millane back or any of the other solo travelers, but I can stop this from happening to any other Solo Traveler or any Traveler for that matter.

Last week I was on the phone with a lady who was helping me promote my business, this lovely lady says to me, “My daughters are 18,22, 25, the new generation woman are so empowered and confident.” I have a big problem with this statement.

This is what Google says ” confidence” means,

the feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something.

“we had every confidence in the staff”

synonyms:    trust, belief, faith, credence, conviction; More

antonyms:    distrust, scepticism

the state of feeling certain about the truth of something.

“I can say with confidence that I have never before driven up this street”

a feeling of self-assurance arising from an appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities.

“she’s brimming with confidence”

synonyms:    self-assurance, self-confidence, self-reliance, belief in oneself, faith in oneself, positiveness, assertiveness, self-possession, nerve, poise, aplomb, presence of mind, phlegm, level-headedness, cool-headedness, firmness, courage, boldness, mettle, fortitude

“she’s brimming with confidence” antonyms:    doubt, uncertainty

My question to you, the readers, the solo traveler’s, the traveler’s, the cynics ………………..

What is confidence??

What makes a person confident?

I want you to imagine this scenario.

If I say to you, I am so confident that I can put a blindfold on and walk across the street in a peak hour traffic.

What would you say???

Just because, I believe I can do this, just because I have a feeling of self – assurance arising from an appreciation of my own ability, I have the courage, I am confident…

DO YOU THINK I SHOULD CROSS THIS ROAD WITH MY EYES CLOSED?

DO YOU THINK I WILL MAKE IT TO THE OTHER SIDE WITH MY EYES CLOSED?

How many of you think I have a 0% percent chance making it to the other end alive?

How many of you think I have a better chance of making it alive with my eyes open?

Confidence without Clarity is DANGEROUS.

Overconfident comes from a place of EGO, a place where you believe you are always right, a place where you know everything, and you do not question your thoughts or decision. You are so confident in your choices. You get tunnel vision, one track of mind.

Lack of Confidence, Confidence, and Overconfidence – these are all emotions.  When you are Traveling Solo, your safety is 100% your responsibility. The fact is, whether you are traveling or not your life, your well being, and your safety is 100% your responsibility at all times.

Whether you are traveling through Life or Traveling throughout the world, I want you to get clarity. Clarity requires you to learn and to grow. Clarity means you need to work on yourself regularly and grow continuously. Clarity removes your emotions, allows you to focus on what the situation really is and allows all your senses to do the right thing, and your mind will be in alignment with your heart and your actions. Your mind will not get clouded by the noise of the modern world, and you will make better decisions and choices.

What you need to know before you take off on your Solo Travel Adventure??

(1) Why are you Traveling Alone?

(2) What do you want to achieve from this journey?

(3) What does it look, sound or feel like when you have achieved it?

(4) What have you done to prepare yourself for this Solo Travel Adventure?

(5) What do you know about the country or countries you are traveling too?

There is a big debate, is Solo Traveling Safe???

WITHOUT preparation – SOLO TRAVELING is NOT SAFE.  Just like anything in life, without the knowledge, the education, the ability, the right tools, and the right mindset, you are not safe anywhere in the world, alone or with people.

When you work on self-discovery, clarity, and mindset, you learn the ability to attract good people, loving people and supportive people in your life. You also learn to walk away from bad people, dangerous situations and unhealthy environments.
