One Way To Get From Singapore to Kuala Lumpur
Before I share my delicious Chilli Crab and Tiger beer with you, let me share with you how I got to Jalan Alor today. This morning I woke up in Singapore to a loud buzzing alarm at 6 am. I decided to take an adventurous route from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. Clever? I will let you decide that after you hear my story. Normally I would just jump on the plane, 1 hour and I am in Kuala Lumpur but the Traveller within was itching to try something different.
After making my way to the Malaysian Bus Deport in Singapore, where I got on the bus, it is still dark outside as we head out of the Singapore city into the outer suburbs. In about 45 mins I arrive at the border of Singapore and Malaysia.
I was quite happy with myself, I felt a sense of achievement. I managed to get to Johor Bahru with plenty of time before the train leaves. I looked up online the train leaves at 9 am and arrive Central Kuala Lumpur at 1 pm. I make my way to the ticket office, buy myself a ticket, which was so cheap for a middle-class seat, I thought. Because of the language barrier, I did not ask too many questions. As the train leaving Johar Bahru, my excitement level gets high and I can not wait to get to Kuala Lumpur.
The train stops at the first station, second station, third Station, by now the alarm bells are ringing at the back of my head. This is not an Express Train. I did not ask at the Ticket office for an express Train, oh no. What a stupid mistake. An hour later the conductor walks in, I ask him what time will this train get into KL. He says around 5 pm. I sit back in my seat, ready to burst into tears, 8 hours train ride, what was I thinking. Anyways lets fast forward to me arriving at my hotel.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row height=”auto” seperator_indeed_locker=”” lk_t=”ism_template_1″ lk_io=”default” lk_dm=”0″ lk_thm=”0″ lk_tuo=”0″ ru_on=”0″ uhc_on=”0″ ur_on=”0″ ref_on=”0″][vc_column][us_single_image image=”3895″ size=”full” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row height=”auto” seperator_indeed_locker=”” lk_t=”ism_template_1″ lk_io=”default” lk_dm=”0″ lk_thm=”0″ lk_tuo=”0″ ru_on=”0″ uhc_on=”0″ ur_on=”0″ ref_on=”0″][vc_column][vc_column_text]After such a long day, the normal me would have had a nice big bath and called in for a room service but the traveler in me got the taxi to Jalan Alor.
The street food heaven, as I walked down this street, the disappointment of the day events drop off my shoulders and I find myself lost in this amazing vibe of music, laughter and street food. All my senses have come alive, the pungent smell making me hungry. The display of seafood, fried food, the meat of all sorts, frog, eel, octopus to name a few. Colours and flavors of different cultures, Malay, Chinese, Indian offering different styles of noodle and rice dishes, BBQ style, steamed or fried options available and many Ice cream bars for deserts.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row height=”auto” seperator_indeed_locker=”” lk_t=”ism_template_1″ lk_io=”default” lk_dm=”0″ lk_thm=”0″ lk_tuo=”0″ ru_on=”0″ uhc_on=”0″ ur_on=”0″ ref_on=”0″][vc_column][us_single_image image=”3896″ size=”full” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row height=”auto” seperator_indeed_locker=”” lk_t=”ism_template_1″ lk_io=”default” lk_dm=”0″ lk_thm=”0″ lk_tuo=”0″ ru_on=”0″ uhc_on=”0″ ur_on=”0″ ref_on=”0″][vc_column][vc_column_text]I decided to indulge myself with this scrumptious Chilli Crab. Here I am, after an eventful day of highs and lows, sitting in front of this beautiful plate of food and a local beer, having an amazing Malaysian experience.
