Why you must visit Cinque Terre when you are in Italy.

The picture perfect, Cinque Terre. What can I say about this breath-taking place? It’s one of the most beautiful coastlines of North Italy. It stretches over 10 km long with the presence of five ancient villages overlooking the Mediterranean sea.

There are few ways to get to this fishing village. By car is the popular choice but you can also use the Public bus, train or a tour bus. The drive to Cinque Terre is fantastic, the Mediterranean sea stunning and the view of City La Spezia accompanying you the entire way.

You can not drive to the village; there is a car parking facility about 4km out of the town, from the car park it takes 15 to 20 mins to walk to this picture perfect fishing village.

If you have time, visit all five villages, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The train will take you to all five of these villages. I couldn’t believe the beauty of these colorful houses perched on the sides of the cliff. Vineyards are clinging to the steep terraces built on the coast.

For more active people, you can enjoy the Sentiero Azzurro, a hiking path that stretches along the coast, connecting the five villages. For me, I wandered the streets of the town, admiring the views and learning the history.

The ports full of fishing boats, the tourists shopping for souvenirs, wine tasting or relaxing in cafes with local fresh seafood, locals sunbathing and swimming in the Mediterranean sea.

The best way to end your day is to sit in one of the restaurants or cafes with a nice glass of local wine and delicious Italian cuisine.

This place might be a tiny part of Italy, but it is a must see. It is big in personality, and I can promise you, you will fall in love, just like I did. If you get a chance stay the night, there is accommodation for all budgets, from B&B to Hotels. I just had a stopover on my way to Lucca.
